Product Description

What happens to us when we die? Where do people go? What do they see? What messages do they receive? Why are they allowed to come back? "The Day I Died" brings together ten profoundly moving testimonies from people who have passed through the limits of human endurance and beyond. Around the world, ordinary people go about their daily lives convinced they've had a glimpse into the afterlife. Their eye-witness accounts often share uncanny similarities, and this book does justice to this beguiling subject by analysing dramatic narratives and shedding light on a phenomenon at the crossroads of the medical and the mystical. Tammy Cohen presents ten intriguing real-life accounts, including a man who 'died' on the operating table and awoke with increased psychic abilities, a victim of domestic abuse who had a life-changing unusual out-of-body experience, plus stories from people who had 'drowned' and 'died' of heart attacks. Powerful, challenging and endlessly fascinating, "The Day I Died" celebrates both pleasurable and distressing near-death experiences - when death came calling, but left empty-handed.

Make that 20 ! 27 Aug 2007
By KAT
The Day I Died is a book about exactly that - the day 20 ordinary people, of all different ages and from around the world 'died'. However, their life didn't end there - as such - they were all given a second chance and came back from the 'dead' to tell of their experiences in this remarkable true book.

For almost all of the 20 people featured, their experience changed their lives forever, - some suffered heart-attacks, some car-crashes or being run over, and others survived the horror of flesh-eating bugs, voilent attacks and involentary drug OD's. Their lives and circumastances might be different but the outcome of the stories is the same throughout - all these people got a second chance. For some they embraced their experiences and it changed their lives for the better, but others who wished they could have stayed in the wonderful places they describe so vividly have been left wondering what purpose they were bought back to life to forefil. For some it caused life changing events - some sceptics found themselves converted and some even discovered psychic powers they didn't possess before their 'death'. For most it was a blissful journey full of peace and tranquility, but for others it was the most terrifying experience of their life.

Every story, every journey and every situation is different - but the endings all had one thing in common - the day death came knocking and had the door slammed in its face! A wonderfully facsinating read about Near Death Experiences that turned the barriers of death into a gateway to a brighter, better word. Reccomended to anyone with an interest into subjects of this nature. A big thumbs up to the 20 people who had the courage to tell their stories. A brilliant must-read fascinating book.

I was very disappointed with this book. Having taken an interest in the subject I know that there are many thousands of recorded cases ( see Prof. Kenneth Ring or Dr.Raymond Moody) of what I would describe as full NDEs. Starting with the Out of body experience, the dark tunnel and a journey at speed to the light and an unforgettable meeting with the light that changes lives. This book has few of these and what it has are more fleeting out of body experiences rather than the NDE that we have come to know. Many are ambiguous and could be attributed to the drugs or medication given at the time.It is often padded out with personal trivia. It also suffers from a similarity of style that runs through each story taking away the authenticity that personal stories have. I suspect that this may be due to a re-writing editorial style. This wonderful subject deserves better than this. If you have never read of this experience read the Dr.Raymond Moody first and you'll know what I mean. Kenneth Rings Lessons from the Light also contains many moving and fully authenticated examples. Dr. Melvin Morse on childrens NDE and blind people.

good NDE book 8 Jun 2009
I enjoyed reading this book, which I found fully relevant to the topic of NDE's. There was no rubbish to read through to get to the 'good' stuff.
The evidence of personal experiences recounted is quite remarkable. Sadly, for some people the only way to believing in NDE's would be to have one, for me, this book really got me thinking - and believing!
