Review

An old friend asks Intelligence Officer Jack Valentine to wean away his teenage daughter from New York drug baron Riccardo Xaberra. Jack and his old ally Liam track down Xaberra to Mexico - but Xaberra has kidnapped Jack's lover and Liam's sister. An assured, shamelessly exciting page-turner. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Product Description

Just when he thinks he's done with the covert life, Jack Valentine hears from his old friend Paulo Cassegrande. Embarking on a seemingly straightforward mission to return his friend's daughter from the low-life company she's fallen in with, he soon finds himself embroiled in a far more dangerous scenario - from Manhattan to the searing uplands of Central Mexico, the agenda is drugs, violence and long held hatreds.

Combining all the hardboiled action, powerful characterisation and beautiful prose of his previous Jack Valentine adventure, John Creed has delivered another urgent and compelling thriller.

Brilliant again! 4 Jun 2007
By Penny Waugh VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as much as previous Jack Valentine novels. Great characterisation, plot hopefully (?) implausible, maybe editing could have been improved in places, but who cares? I loved the characters (though I think you have to start with Sirius Crossing) and when I discovered Creed it restored my faith in modern thrillers.

Absolutely Brilliant 15 May 2004
Format:Paperback
This book, although starts off a little slow is just as good, if not better than John Creeds debut book, there is non stop action and was very hard to put down. Maybe it was because I had read "The Sirius Crossing", this book meant more to me and was all the more exciting. So I reccommend that you go out and buy both of John Creed's books as they are brilliant from start to finish.

Phoney 3 Sep 2003
By Mr. Warren M. Fisher VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
Deeply unconvincing thriller - from the clumsy writing, flimsy plotting to the bland characterisation. Phoney through and through - this is bogus thriller writing from a bland hack with delusions of grandeur.

Ordinary at best, toe curling at its worst - only worth checking out if you're really desperate.
