Having been recommended to read this by my GP I was very positive. It was a shame that it was written in America and assumed that all of the readers were obese and shopped for and ate fast rubbish food.Information was interesting however as well as recommended portions.

Basically this book is for people who do not already have a healthy diet. If you eat fast food, then this book will re-educate you, but if you already eat 5 a day plus fibre etc, you may find it preaches to the converted.

This book tells you exactly what you need to do to change your diet for the better to improve your blood pressure. I bought a few books on the subject when I first knew I had to start addressing the problem. This book was the smallest and the cheapest, but has been by FAR the most useful so far.

I DID NOT LIKE THIS VERY MUCH. I DID NOT REALISE IT WAS AMERICAN AND THEREFORE AIMED AT THE AMERICAN MARKET, THEREFORE A LOT OF THE THINGS MENTIONED, SUCH AS EVERYDAY FOODS, WERE NOT RELEVANT TO MY EATING STYLE AT ALL. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT FOR THE GENERAL MARKET UNLESS YOU ARE AMERICAN OR HAVE AN AMERICAN EATING LIFESTYLE.

I have not disliked a book for a very long time. This book is just produced to make money, if you know what I mean. Extremely boring, over written and repetitive beyond belief. Save your money there is nothing new here just a complete rehash of everything freely available on the internet. Would have been better if they ran the words through a computer program and deleted every repetitious sentence and then published a slimmed down and therefore cheaper book of the information you really need to know.

sorry this diet book did not fit what I was looking for. Too much to take in instead of just a few pages telling you about the diet and more recipes. Why dont writers just get to the nitty gritty and let the dieter get on with the recipes. It puts me off when I have to trawl through more than half the book to get to the recipes themselves. We all know what it is supposed to do!

This is just a great book and I can highly recommend it - it is easy & simple to read and the advice given is sound and it is easy to follow. Already, my BP has dropped and the diet is NOT HARD to keep to - very sensible and a very good buy indeed. thank you

This is another money-gobbler. The advice is sensible and well-distributed through books, newspapers, other food-gurus. The message is simple enough. Lose weight sensibly. Avoid salt. There is no 'Dash' to attending hypertension. The worry is readers believing blood pressure can be controlled in 14 days. Measure it from hour to hour, day to day. Fluctuation. No relevance per se. I would be interested to know the peer-review evidence basis of this.Check with your GP. Read the book by all means but check references and credentials. Mine are medical. What I am saying is, a quick fix is not the long-term answer and may be missing other risk factors. Pete Townsend wrote "Won't Get Fooled Again". Wise words.
