More About the Author

I started my novel, An Alien By Circumstance in 1991 and after several re-writes had it published in 1996. At the time it was the first Black British novel to deal with the theme of bisexuality through the eyes of it's central character.

The novel went onto sell widely here in England and has been used as part of an undergraduate programme in Florida USA.

Following on from this publication, I went onto teach Literacy and Creative Writing at Tertiary level and more recently completed my second novel, The Darlings of Soho, at Birkbeck University.

It was a joy to write and hope that it is a joy for you to read.

Love and light, David.

This slice of life has a pleasingly authentic feel. The action is sandwiched between a prologue and epilogue, each featuring the Kings Cross bombings of July 2005, which keeps the readers guessing, carrying them onward from page to page. David Barnett writes with an almost dream-like quality, showing true insight into the characters of Martina and Greg and how their intimate relationships develop. This, plus a great flavour of Soho makes for a truly enjoyable read.

I was so happy to read this little gem of a book. The story of love in all its intrinsic forms. Set in the perilous time of the London bombings it shows how love and the human spirit can rise above the trials of life.I would recommend this book to everyone.
