While I have many CD's of Klaus Schulze and other editions of the Dark Side of the Moog series, I was absolutely disappointed with Number 10. As prevailing wisdom goes, "the longer the series, the least compelling they become", holds true with DSOM 10. The first 20 minutes are so cheesy and without any sonic dynamics that if I were Namlook or Schulze, I would be embarrassed to have my name associated with it. The vocal "incantations" that take up the majority of the first track are so "new-agey" trite that I was blushing just listening to it. The remainder of the CD is mostly just very basic synth-drone with occasional use of sequencer and percussion led passages. Those sequenced passages are so brief that once you get your hopes up that "maybe now this thing will get somewhere and groove", it's over and back to he drone. Now, don't get me wrong, I love a good synth-drone, but, it's been done much better by others before, including Mr. Schulze (Irrlicht, Cyborg). Don't waste your time and hard-earned money on this dud. It is far more worth your time to pay the higher prices for the earlier editions, such as 4 and 5. Or just go right to the source and purchase "Timewind", "Moondawn" "Body Love" or other early K.S. masterpieces that are plentiful and cheap as re-issues. Also, check out "Aqua" by Edgar Froese.
