Minette Walters manages to do it again in a little known of book. She manages to get inside the heads of her charcters in this book which is crucial to the plot. With so many twists you never predict the ending until you read it. It also has the human desparation factor you feel for Jinx and want her to succeed in her life. Her doctor is probably the most important person in her life and plays a central role but it is the add on characters that create the most intrigue like her father and brother. She has been battered and bruised but the question is why has she been left for dead? If you enjoy not being able to put a book down then this is the book for you.

I love Minette Walters' books and this one is as good as any she has written. The intrigue lasts to the very last minute. They are always dark and full of suspense. A book that you don't want to put down until you have finished reading.

I can't understand some of the reviews on this book - i.e. dismissive - Walters is a writer given to detail as much as story line and if you expect anything different you shouldn't read her books. The Dark Room was good - once again the family lunch and supper was delayed - she never fails to deliver - and if she repeats little things like PDQ so what - such things do not detract from her hold on the reader.

Didn't care about the characters
I did enjoy most of the book, but I had trouble sympathizing with the characters. I didn't care about Jinx, the recovering car crash victim with amnesia. Read more
