Product Description

Ten-year-old Tracy is smart and full of energy, but more than anything, she wants love. Tracy doesn't know where her mum lives, but that doesn't stop her from having long, imaginary conversations with her. She's had two foster families before, which haven't worked out, but she hopes a woman named Cam will be her next foster mum.

In The Dare Game Tracy is now living with Cam and starting a new school. Things seem to be looking up for Tracy - but then trouble begins. She has a horrible teacher, the other kids laugh at her, and things between her and Cam aren't going as well as expected. Tracy's friends, Alexander and Football, are having their own problems, too. Then one day, out of the blue, who should appear but Tracy's long-lost mum.

I thought the Dare Game was an INCREDIBLE book! Jacqueline Wilson deals with things that could, and probably are happening to children somewhere. In this story Tracy has to decide whether she would like to carry on living with foster mum cam (she complains about her never buying her designer clothes and living in a poky little flat) or start living with her mum-the famous Carly Beaker! Its Tracy's dream come true-or so she thought. When Tracy goes to stay for the weekend with her mum, she leaves her by herself, and Tracy becomes scared. Then, the next morning Carly tells Tracy that she wont be here next weekend as she has been 'offered a part in a movie she really cant resist'. The truth is that she has been asked out to the races for the weekend with her boyfriend!
Another problem in Tracy's life at the mo is school, she cant STICK miss Vomit Bagley so she bunks off. To this special house where she meets up with these two boys, Football and Alexander. Football is (as you've probably guesses) obbsessed with football-he has been excluded from school. Alex gets bullied and is a bit wet and wimpy, though he is still a good friend to Tracy, even though they are so different!...
You will definatly enjoy this book, though it does help if you have already read The Story Of Tracy Beaker!

I started reading this book on holiday. I was so into the book i would sit there and read it while my family went in the sea! THe basic outline of it is about how a girl named tracy stumbles into a run down old buliding were she found two boys. She was a foster child and was starting to forget about the chance of ever seeing her mum when her mum got in touch with her. She soon realised her mum was not what she expected her to be and decided to go back to live with her foster mum. An amazing story of courage and comedy a must for any Jacqueline wilson fan.

This is a fabulous follow up to "The Story of Tracy Beaker". In this book Tracy has matured slightly, but still has the same carefee attitude tolife! Tracy doesn't much fancy her life with Cam any more, and soon she begins to bunk off school and be nasty and cheeky at home. She is determined that Cam hates her, and this is a very real situation which thousands of children experience. When her mum turns up, Tracy can't wait, but after meeting her a couple of times, she starts to realise that appearences can be deceptive - her mum has been away for so long that she doesn't really know Tracy any more. With a little help from her new friends, Football and Alexander, she begins to realise that her mum isn't as perfect as she thought, and when her mum decieves her to get away with her new boyfriend by telling lies, Tracy finally accepts what she had ben hiding from for so long - she would be much better off with Cam and that her mum isn't what she expected, wanted, or neded. In the end, she finds real love and affection in Cam and the story ends really well. Jacquline Wilson is a master at capturing the true visions and opinions of children and confronts issues which many authors are too scared to hint at. This is a fabulous book - read it!
