He knows that escorting the haughty Grand Duchess of Maubourg to England will not be an easy task. But Jack Ryder, spy and adventurer, believes he is more than capable of managing Her Serene Highness. 4.0 out of 5 stars Regency story 23 Oct 2008
By Wyvernfriend VINE VOICE
This is the story of Jack Ryder and Eva Grand Duchess of Maubourg (possibly more accurately the Dowager Grand Duchess of Maubourg as she is a widow). Jack has to rescue Eva from the macinations of person or persons unknown and bring her to England where both she and her son can be kept safe until they find out who is causing the havoc around them.

Fun entertainment, occasionally things drag a little during the flight and things sometimes feel repeditive but overall quite a good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A cut above the typical romance story! 13 July 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Excellently designed story, with a heroine and hero of substance, believable motives, the lovemaking exciting without being titillating. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the Ravenhurst books.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Clever, Devious Heroine 8 Jan 2014

Louise Allen does for the Ravenhurst series of books, what Ms Burrowes does for the Lonely Lords series. The books move the reader along at a cracking pace, has humor with lovely ladies and enigmatic men. Truly entertaining and as with Ms Burrowes, Ms Allen hasn't let me down yet! Read and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ravenhursts 13 May 2008
By J. Alm
The plan for Louise Allen is to show you the Ravenhurst cousins.

To help there is the Family Tree of the Ravenhursts in the front of the book.

Jack Ryder is a Ravenhurst. He is to help get a duchess away from her brother in law who is in support of Napoleon. It is set around the battle of waterloo and pay attention to a few of the characters as they will pop up in the next story in the set - The Outrageous Lady Felsham.

Eva and Jack are strong and interesting characters.

Louise Allen never seems to disappoint as her stories are full of action and romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Louise Allen Rocks! 8 Oct 2012

I became aware of Louise Allen through an anthology, and loved the characters in it so much, I decided to read some more of her work - and I was not disappointed! She writes characters so real, you can almost imagine them in front of you. In fact, I would love to meet up with them in my parlor. Read the whole series while you are at it - she does not dissapoint!

4.0 out of 5 stars Sebastian & Eva 7 April 2009
By Cameo - Published on
This story was very interesting. Sebastian was pretty cool, almost perfect in fact, and Eva was a very well thought out character.

Eva seemed older than Sebastian to me. It may read differently for others.
