Product Description

Review

'You have a true higher self, and this book tells you how to come from there all the time and be authentic and make a lasting difference.'
Mark Victor Hansen, co-author of Chicken Soup for the Soul

'To read The Dance is to invite all the far-flung parts of yourself … back onto the dance floor for a slow and sweet waltz. At the end of the dance, you have whirled yourself back into one whole person.'
Elizabeth Lesser, author of The Seeker's Guide

Product Description

The Dance picks up where cult bestseller The Invitation left off, taking the ideas deeper. This poem explores our ability to open up to the adventure of living, facing love, sorrow and anger and learning all they have to teach us, taking readers on an inspiring journey of the heart. Now reissued with a beautiful new cover design.

Written by the author of the cult bestseller The Invitation, The Dance picks up where The Invitation left off, taking the ideas further.

Each chapter of this inspirational book begins with a line from the poem The Dance and explores and expands upon the questions it raises, showing us how we can open ourselves up to the adventure of living and face love, sorrow and anger and learn all they have to teach us.

Among the ideas Oriah Mountain Dreamer explores in this extraordinary book are: • Relationships – what we get wrong and how to fix them • Money – what it means and how to enjoy it • Ways to overcome fear and loneliness • Humour – how to be happier • How to find balance and harmony in your life.

Oriah Mountain Dreamer answers each of her insightful questions by taking readers with her on a deeply personal, yet universal and inspiring, journey of the heart.

Format:Hardcover
Like her previous book, The Invitation,in The Dance, Oriah breaks down her poem into chapter headings and relates to real life situations. As we dance with her, we peel back another layer of our own prejudice towards ourself and others. As we learn the steps to this new dance, we learn not to judge not to condemn our selves but to love and cherish who we are. If you can accept a loved one warts and all, then why not yourself ? Do we not deserve love and understanding? So why are we so often the person we least want to be? With great insight Oriah reveals how she learnt to love her own spirit and trust her inner god. To aid the reader she closes every dance step with a meditation to cherish and accept ourselves for who we are. It is a book that I will open everytime I need to remember how to love myself.

I bought this book after hearing an excerpt by accident on the radio. It changed my life. I left a job I hated, got a new one and am happier than I have been in 30 years. The book is non-judgmental, funny, honest and empowering. Especially useful for people brought up and repressed in the Christian Church...read it...

Following on from the glorious Invitation, this book contains more of Oriah Mountain Dreamer's very special honesty and insight. Hers is not the language of persuasive argument or even of plausible explanation, rather she explores the way of acceptance - or as she puts it 'the ability to be with what is no matter how hard'. She explores the notion of not knowing, being in a void, not doing anything, just being with ourselves. She also writes about the power of being in silence with others - shared solitude as the most wonderful way to merge with another and with the world. Her meditative style is gentle but at the same time hard-hitting in the way that she strikes right at the heart of the issues she covers.
For me, the poem on which this text is based did not have the same impact as The Invitation, hence the 4-star rating, but nevertheless this is a book full of wisdom, beauty and truth.
