Book Description

14 Nov 2007
On the 25th and 26th of July 2006, The University of Edinburgh, in association with Strathclyde Fire & Rescue Service, Arup, BRE, Vision Systems, Lion TV and BBC Horizon carried out three full scale fire experiments in a disused tower block in Dalmarnock, Glasgow, UK.

The experiments were designed to investigate compartment fire phenomena, demonstrate the FireGrid concept, test fire sensors & cameras and provide the most detailed set of experimental data ever recorded for comparison with fire modelling studies.

The experiments formed part of the BBC Horizon show "Skyscraper Fire Fighters", originally shown in April 2007.

This book presents the experiments, the lessons learnt, the technical challenges and the modelling studies.
