5.0 out of 5 stars Fool proof, interesting, rich 7 July 2000
By Julie A Shaw - Published on Amazon.com
This book is filled with simple, proven and easy to prepare recipes which are out of this world. Each recipe is preceded by an anecdote of how the dish was invented and each dish comes with many suggestions for modification. Modifications are based on what is fresh and available during different times of the year. Incredibly easy to follow, these recipes are rich and varied. "The Salad" recipe is one of the best salads you will ever eat and takes 5 minutes to prepare and will turn out the same everytime if you just follow the simple directions. One of my favorite things about this book are the stories which precede each recipe and the fact that the recipes always, always turn out just as delicious as she describes!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Little Slice of Ozarkia 4 Jun 2012
By Loves Teaching K! - Published on Amazon.com
If you haven't visited the Ozarks, specifically, Eureka Springs in northwest Arkansas, you will want to after getting and using this book. Crescent paints a picture of the lifestyle and food style that many of us came here to enjoy. Not to mention are the delicious recipes that have become some of my staples. During blueberry season here, I HAVE to make her Bountiful Blueberry Muffins! I have wowed many with her "Ark-Mex" Lasagna. My kids grew up loving the Dairy Hollow House German Baked Pancake. It still hits the spot every time. There are numerous recipes that I could mention, but space does not allow....but just one more....Hashbrown Quiche!!! (so delish!!)
One of the things that is unique about this cookbook, is the friendly way Crescent titles various dinner menus, such as Supper Before the Opera at Inspiration Point or (my favie) First Lighting of the Wood Stove or Fireplace Fall Supper.
DHH Cookbook will put you back in touch with the joy of cooking and enjoying meals with the people you love! This one needs to be in your collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Cookbook 24 Jan 2009
By Bonnie B. Allen - Published on Amazon.com
She gives such reverence to the pleasures of the kitchen. Honestly, if you have an adult child leaving home and want to send them off with one cookbook, this should be the one. Move over Fannie Farmer, you've been out-done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the best! 3 Jun 2005
By Mark Twain - Published on Amazon.com
I have -- and love -- all of Crescent Dragonwagon's cookbooks, including her first (The Commune Cookbook). However, this is probably my personal favorite, since I have made a great many of the recipes, and they have all been absolutely wonderful. The authors writing is also a great pleasure. Don't miss this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars More than a cookbook 6 Feb 2014

You just gotta love CDW! She lets you into her life, lets you visit the inn, and shares lots of healthy recipes. The recipes are easily altered for quicker cooking, but the book is a real gem, one you want to read cover to cover.
