Amazon.co.uk Review

In a nutshell:
The biggest publishing phenomenon since Harry Potter is now a game as well, as you take control of Harvard professor Robert Langdon and French cryptographer Sophie Neveu in the mystery that launched 38.6 million books.

The lowdown:
Although developer The Collective (who also did Marc Ecko's Getting Up and Revenge of the Sith) haven’t been so silly as to try and turn this into a shoot ‘em-up there’s surprisingly more action in this game than you’d probably expect. It features stealth levels, numerous chases sequences and even a fully fledged combat engine for ensuring your quest for the truth doesn’t come to a premature end. There are plenty of more sedately paced puzzles to solve as you go though, which should help to ensure there’s enough variety here to please both fans and newcomers alike.

Most exciting moment:
The game actually contains numerous sequences and locations not featured in either the book or movie, as well as more expected locations such as The Louvre, Westminster Abbey and St Sulpice.

Since you ask:
Although obviously based on the same basic story this game is licensed from the book not the film – so there’s no virtual Tom Hanks or Audrey Tautou here.

The bottom line:
If you thought the movie should’ve had a bit more action, this is the game for you.
Harrison Dent

4.0 out of 5 stars da vinci code 24 May 2006

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
the game, i my view, is fantastic, with puzzles to test the mind in many different ways, some easy and some horrifically hard, theres always the hint option if you get stuck. it remains true to the story, with only the slightest of changes but they can be forgiven, as they are only very small details. the fights against the police and the misterious monks, althought fairly easy, are fun to do and watch. the only problem i can see is that the game only has a small range of people it may appeal to, those who like stratagies etc. by over all a great game that will have you straining the brain cells for hours on end. well worth the buy. enjoy

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a game from a movie worth playing! 25 May 2006
Platform for Display:PlayStation2
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
The game itself is very good with complex, mind boggling puzzles and some quite well maintained suspence and action. The graphical scenery is stunning when outside Westminster Abby or inside the Lovre. The special action sequences are good for people like me who don't like getting stuck on them and are quite challenging.

The game is a bit glitchy at times and a lot of the puzzle solving is looking back at past facts or clues, which can take a long time

Overall: A (visually) good, challenging game.

3.0 out of 5 stars Da Vinci PS2 6 Jan 2008
By Alex
Platform for Display:PlayStation2
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
The recomended age group for this game is 12+, but there can't be many twelve year olds that would have the academic ability to solve the majority of puzzles included in this game. It has stuck largely to the book, with some variations to make the game more enjoyable. To anyone who has not read the book, the puzzles would be incredibly difficult as, although they do not follow exactly the same answers that are present in the book, they are very relevant to the storyline.

Some long speeches included that are relevant to solving the puzzles, but are also dull and cannot be skipped through which makes it seem very long winded at points. Despite these weak points however, I am thoroughly enjoying the game as it has good content, the puzzles are difficult and tease tease the brain.

I recommend this game to anyone who likes solving word puzzles and has a high patience level!

1.0 out of 5 stars The Da Vinci Code (PS2)
I found this game tedious. There was nothing about it that I enjoyed. Not a patch on the other games that I have played such as the Prince of Persia series.
