This is a terrific book - a great read for anyone interested in the evolution of the modern museum. Schubert gives a whistle-stop tour of how we got from revolutionary France to the destination architecture and branded giants of today.

It manages to be a quick and easy read, yet at the same time, is full of information. It isn't often that you learn something from every page of a book, but with The Curator's Egg, you really do. I can't recommend it too highly.

the linear developement of the museum 25 April 2006
By fabulouz - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book presents the linear development of the museum from the 17th century to contemporary time period. It gives descriptive examples of museum and their involvement with political, social, and economical issues of the specific time period. It focuses solely on the development of the museum in European and North American culture, it could be improved with some context from other countries. Overall a clear and manageable.
