Paul, if you are reading this review, please take from it my heartfelt sympathy and sorrow for a life that has been little more than a horrifying journey through immense darkness. That you have survived demands the respect and admiration of everyone who reads your story and I applaud you. Thank you for having the courage to stay with us; it means a lot to me to know that you are.

For everyone else, I recommend this book wholeheartedly. Strange, really, as this type of book is not my normal fare by any stretch of the imagination. But having it pushed on me by my social worker sister and being tired of her daily demands that I do so, I opened to the first page last night. It is now almost morning and I weep -- real, sobbing tears -- to know that this dawn means another day of torment, terror and hell for children all around me. Helpless, frightened and destroyed children just like Paul.

Around the tears this is also a fierce, very fierce determination to do something about it. I am healthy, strong and intelligent, with a legal background and a will do something. And I know I will not be the only one to enter the world of victim support and advocacy because of this book, this story. We will help search for these children, support them and see their abusers hauled before a better, more robust and sypathetic legal system.

Every child I help, I will think of you, Paul.

My heart goes out to the two little boys who suffered so much at the hands of a cruel evil man. Paul is a amazing man who has overcome so much,I wish him and his wonderful family happiness for the future.

In over 50 years of reading I don't think I've been so Angry, Frustrated and Saddened by the events suffered by this human being. There were certain passages that brought me to tears trying to imagine what this poor soul had to bear. An absolute must read for those of us who have never really bothered to think what goes on in the warped reality of a pedophile. A must read if not only to protect our young nearest & dearest from this sick corrupted so called side of our society.

One of the most shocking real life books i have read. I could not put the book down. A story of someone who survived one of the worst starts to life a person could have. A true survivor. Highly recommended .

Compulsive reading. Can't really say I enjoyed it. You really can't enjoy suffering to this extent. How the man came through it is unbelievable, but all credit to him for doing so. So sad that the perpetrators got off scot free. Well that's how it came across to me. A big wall and guns spring to mind. Bur decent people don't do things like that. Do they?

Well last night I finished the most disturbing book I have ever read. The Cupboard under the Stairs The boy that lived in hell. Never has a book caused such physical and emotiomal feelings from me. I was unable to sleep one night and had a blinding headache another time. I will never read anything like this again, but Im glad I read it. The authour Paul Mason, who the book is about is an amazing person, how he survived I will never know. I have to say I have such hatered and disgust and feelings I can't describe for his abusers. But the biggest bastard of all was "Jack" the thing thats sperm brought him into the world. Him and his disgusting, evil friends. Men and women, serving police officers, lawyers etc. They should just be shot, one bullet through the head, the have no rights to be called human therefor have no rights. Though not only the scum pedophiles were disgusting, so where the teachers at the school the physical abused him by caning him for him"bad behaviour" , slapping him, and other such evil acts. There was the doctor that didn't believe him, also the social worker. "Jack" the bastard was a serving policeman, a devil worshipper and mason, and when Paul eventually reported him to the police the CPN dropped the case due to "Jacks" ill health and the historical time of the abuse. The boy now man has reall trouble with people in authourity. I wonder why...............................

It took me a long time to get through the first half dozen chapters as I had to keep putting it down as its very detailed and distressing. I got to the end but I wish he got justice.
