Product Description

From the Author

This book is the product of more than a half century of collecting and filing dirty jokes. I have always believed that a dirty mind is a terrible thing to waste, and without THE CUNNING LINGUIST, some of the greatest humor in the British and American canons would be lost. Once I decided that each joke had to involve word play, the collection took on a certain elegance and achieved a level of punnery that is not approached by my other puns books. I sincerely believe that the reader will not only laugh but will learn a lot -- especially about the versatility of the English language.

About the Author

Richard Lederer is the best-selling author of Anguished English. He specialises in the English language and has had several other books in this area published, including Get Thee to a Punnery, The Play of Words and The Miracle of Language.

Recommended for doses of terrific witty off-color humor 11 Mar. 2009
By R. Vellek - Published on
Format: Paperback
I had the pleasure of purchasing this book from the author at a speaking event. A terrific book to pick up now & again for some witty (and usually quite risque) humor. The author is indeed a master of the English language and the double-entendres and innuendos abound. Even the inscription provided to me upon purchasing the book followed in this fashion. Richard Ledderer signed the book to me as 'Filthy Rich'.
