Product Description

Since 1840, Cunard ships have been transiting the North Atlantic with speed, grace and elegance. These great ships helped to populate nations, served during both world wars and have transported millions of passengers, amongst them celebrities, politicians and royalty. Through tales of ships such as Britannia, Lusitania, Mauretania, Aquitania and the immortal Queens, The Cunard Story gives readers an insight into the heritage of this historic line. Today the Cunard Line operates a fleet of modern ships, offering passengers exciting and varied itineraries to exotic locations across the globe. The Cunard Story is a must-have for all maritime historians and ocean-travellers, especially those with affection for this historic line and its grand vessels.

Excellent quick reference guide 30 Dec 2011
By Jack - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This book is packed with great information, presented simply yet elegently and with superb pictures.

The reader can get a quick sense of the history of Cunard with enough facts presented which will entice one to research further.

An excellent addition to the "Story Series" by The History Press and full credit to the two authors who have produced several excellent Photographic Journey books on the Queens
Another Cute Little Book 11 Dec 2011
By Transatlantique - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
This addition to the "Story" series is a wonderful look at the history of the great Cunard liners. There are several little reproductions of illustrated posters and photographs, many I hadn't seen before, of the great Cunard greyhounds of the Atlantic from the golden era of transatlantic travel. Included throughout the book are "Did You Know" facts that serve to enhance the book's great design and readability. Some of the photos of QE2 are knew to me. Many of the aerial shots are in colour and very nostalgic.

It is limited by size, but is like an elaborate, hardback pamphlet for quick reference and enjoyment. Sometimes those oversized coffee table books are, although nice, a pain to get out and carefully thumb through as I'm always afraid I'll crease the pages. These books are a bit easier to read and handle, yet I'm still very careful with them as I'm a collector and like to keep them pristine. They would make a great gift for the young reader mature enough to appreciate their special nature, but interested in learning about the history of Cunard and ocean travel.

I've really enjoyed this book, as well as the others, and hope to hand them down to future relatives in collectable condition. You won't be disappointed if you are a fan of ocean travel.
