Product Description

Product Description

After more than a decade the doors will be re-opening at Crossroads. Carlton Television is spending 10 million pounds reviving the much-loved soap (whose viewing peaked at over 18 million), which will be shown five days a week at lunchtime, with a repeat in early evening, from spring 2001. The new Crossroads will be made in Nottingham, with the old motel transformed into a modern hotel, and with a host of new characters - although it is expected that some of the original stars will return. Geoff Tibballs will tell fans everything they ever wanted to know about Crossroads new and old. As well as profiling the new arrivals and exploring how and why the show has been revived after all these years, the book will turn back the clock and consider life at the motel during the previous series run of 4,500 episodes. The book includes reviews of the show's most famous storylines including Diane's death, the motel fire, Meg Richardson's departure, the test-tube baby (the first time a subject like this had been explored in a soap), and the world's first eleven-month pregnancy. Containing profiles of all the show's favourite characters including Benny, Amy Turtle, Diane, David Hunter, Meg Richardson, Jill Richardson and her brother Sandy, as well the most popular stars of the new series. Crossroads is a must for fans old and new.

This book has been criticised by some hard-core fans for its occasional factual errors (some of the captions mis-identify people of minor importance, for instance) but in my view this book is an absolute must for any Crossroads fan. Geoff Tibballs gives us a history of the programme, a year by year guide to Crossroads, magic moments, a who's who and much more. The book is packed with pictures and facts that even the most ardent fan will have forgotten about, or perhaps never even known! Most of the 144 pages are dedicated to the old series with the new incarnation of Crossroads covered in a couple of chapters at the end.

Geoff Tibbals has certainly done his homework. The book incorporates material from previous books and features lots of archive photographs. The history of the original series is particularly interesting. Highly recommended.

The Crossroads Story! 31 May 2005
By A Customer
This is a must have for any Crossroads fan - past or present. I bought this book when it first came out and loved it. It tells you all about Series 1, which is great if, like me, you weren't around at the time of the first series! For me, reading all about Series 1 was really interesting but the Series 2 section is the best. It tells you about the MKII characters, interviews with the actors and some lovely photos. Also it talks with people who worked behind the scenes e.g Casting Director who talks for example about how they were extremely lucky to get someone with the calibre of Jane Gurnett to play Kate Russell. Also Kay Patrick and others who talk all about this new series.

This is a fab book for any fans...go on, treat yourself!
