Format: Hardcover
I am a fairly experienced cross stitcher and I was very disappointed with this book. There does not seem to be enough information to get a beginner started, but there is really nothing new for the experienced stitcher here either. Also Ms Greenoff seems to have very definite ideas about how every stage of cross stitching should be done, and she does not mention some of the other options that might be helpful to beginners.
If you live in the UK, you would be better off buying an issue or two of a good cross stitch magazine (NOT Jane Greenoff's!); most of the magazines present all the same information as this book does, and are much better value for money.

This is a must - have book for Jane Greenoff's fans, but for beginners? Where in the index ( or in the book ) are details of fractionnal stitches, or French knots, both traditionally difficult for beginners. The space given to Hardanger, which is almost a completely different subject could have been given to these more basic necessities.

This is the very best cross stitcher's book l have ever seen. Even though it was second hand, the condition is perfect. If you buy this book, it is in my opinion the only book of it's type you will need. Very comprehensive, as are all Jane Greenoff books.
