When you buy Cath Kidston you expect quality, because that is what you normally get. I am really disappointed to say that although the tin, crochet guide and pattern are lovely, the quality of wool is disgraceful. You would expect for a price point of £20 in store that it would be at least a simple cotton yarn. It is not. It is an awful, scratchy acrylic. The sort which you would get in a huge bag in a pound shop.
Too add insult to injury, my wool had clearly fallen apart and been re-knotted several times on each ball. If you were to buy this for a beginner I could imagine this being the most discouraging project to start with as the wool literally breaks up in your hands as you work with it.
Instead, I would recommend getting a free pattern off Ravelry and treating yourself to a good quality wool. It will definitely be a more pleasurable experience, and will probably be cheaper too.
