This book was printed in 2004 and it just goes to show how much the interest in Goldwork embroidery has increased because this book is terribly old-fashioned in its layout and treatment of the skill.
For starters, there are only 6 colour pages, the rest of the book is black and white, but worse than that, it is 95% text! Yes, you read that right. A book claiming to teach you Goldwork is mainly monologue and has barely any diagrams - get me a chair, I need to sit down!
This is utterly disappointing and for my part, it makes the message of the book that much more covert.
HOWEVER, apart from all those disappointments, if you do actually sit and read the text, it is VERY detailed and helpful. Hence, I did not return it.
There is a lot of information in here and it feels a bit like mining for gold compared to what I am used to, but I think it will be worth it. It complements my other books on the subject, which are primarily visual.
Great front cover - makes the book look a lot more modern than it actually is...
