I am so pleased that this reproduction of Edith Holden's 1906 diary is again in print. Beautifully illustrated with watercolour, it is an actual diary that was discovered after 70 years by her neice, who thought it should be shared and it was first published in 1977.When Edith Holden wrote it, it was entirely personal, although all but a few entries are to do with nature, weather and the changing countryside through the seasons. Entries include poems and exquisite drawings of birds, butterflies, bees and flowers. Reading this book inspired me to visit Kew Gardens, one of the locations she visited on a regular basis. Other locations are in Warwickshire and Scotland.
