The Corrs are arguably one of the best live bands around. Even Bono of U2 said something along the lines of the Corrs being able to produce a hell of a lot of noise (good musical noise, that is) which maybe a lot of people wouldn't quite expect.
This album shows just how talented the Corrs are when it comes to playing music live, and also shows how adaptable they are. With their unique blend of rock, pop and traditional all included on this CD, it sure makes for interesting listening.
The CD starts off with two of the Corrs’ most recent hits, ‘Would You Be Happier?’ and ‘Breathless’ and with a little help from the Irish Film Orchestra these two opening tracks seem catchier that ever. 'Joy Of Life', a traditional Irish jig will get your foot a-tapping even if you tape it to the floor with sellotape. A few other familiar Corrs-own tracks are included along with covers of ‘Only Love Can Break Your Heart’, by Neil Young and ‘Ruby Tuesday’ by the Rolling Stones which also features Ronnie Wood doing whatever he does with his guitar. Ronnie also plays on ‘Little Wing’, but his over-zealous guitar thrashing somewhat spoils the otherwise fantastic cover of the Jimi Hendrix classic.
The highlight of the album has to be, however, the two duets between Andrea and Bono on 'Summer Wine' written by Lee Hazlewood, and 'When The Stars Go Blue' by Ryan Adams. Bono’s distinctive voice and Andrea Corr's passionate vocals make the album worth buying for these two songs alone. There is so much chemistry going on between the pair that I was surprised that my stereo didn’t combust!
Although the price is quite heavy considering how few tracks there are, one thing to keep in mind is the rule quality not quantity. And what a quality album it is. Definitely worth the money and definitely worth the wait.
