Product Description

Product Description

Of course, the Queen's Jubilee AND the London Olympics in the same year begs for combination - hence - The Corgi Games - in which Welsh Corgi dogs engage in various forms of sport (including sack racing) in their usual stylish and winning way. In rhyme. Natch.

The illustrations throughout the paperback version of this book are in full colour.

The Corgi Games is also on Amazon US and Amazon UK in paperback. I don't know why it's not linked to the Kindle version, but if you search for it, it'll be here!

More About the Author

Susan Alison paints pictures and writes stories for a living, and her cafetiere is always hot.

Dogs tend to enter into the pictures, and the prose, quite a lot, Susan living under the paw as she does.

Monty and Rosie (and Jeff-Dog now, too) are her Border Collies - they keep an eye on her artwork to make sure she keeps earning kibble, and every now and then they round it up and post it to her artwork blog.

There are more romantic comedies on the way, but in the meantime some illustrated doggerel books are going to put in an appearance - the first being 'The Corgi Games' to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee and The Olympics this year.

Jill Mansell (internationally best-selling author) said of 'White Lies and Custard Creams': "Susan Alison has written a lovely, quirky romp packed with off-the-wall characters - original, intriguing and great fun!"

Katie Fforde (best-selling rom com author and President of the Romantic Novelists' Association) said of 'All His Own Hair': 'Susan Alison handles difficult issues with quirky humour and uplifting results.'

Susan Alison is the Katie Fforde Bursary Award winner for 2011. She has won competition awards for short fiction and sold numerous stories to commercial publications.

5.0 out of 5 stars Corgilicious! 19 Jun 2012

Format:Kindle Edition
Corgis have real steel
and Olympic Game appeal
In a book dedicated to their cause,
I laughed and it gave me paws.

Susan Alison may be
The greatest, last authority
On the antics of such puppy dogs
Who most of us thought were always slogs!

The poetry is delightful.
The Corgi Sports insightful.
Added to the general melee
You get paintings that make your day!

Susan, I thank you from short Corgi legs,
Having seen the official Game regs,
For penning such drollery
To entertain me with pet Bowl-ery.

I loved this book. The poetry is adorable and the artwork amazing. Another fantastic book, Susan! YAY!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Corgi Classic 17 Jun 2012

The pictures are litle gems which have clearly been created by someone who knows dogs, as the author/artist's CV explains. She has a wonderful sense of humour and this work should appeal to all who like dogs, corgis in particular, and sport. I strongly recommend it.

Life is not a vale of woe. It's a variety show!
The quote neatly sums up the upbeat mood of this doggy book.
Perfect as an oddball accompaniment to all the JubileeYmpics going on at the moment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Corgilicious 16 Jun 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Susan's Art has always appealed to me, being a Corgi fan. I am also a lover of all sports so Olympic Games in the UK is a big thing for me. To combine these in one place, as it were, it just too good to miss. I can only hope that a hard-copy version will be available as well. Absolutely fabulous!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great souvenir of the Jubilee/Olympic year! 16 Jun 2012

After enjoying reading Susan Alisons first two novels All His Own Hair - A Romantic Comedy White Lies and Custard Creams - A Romantic Comedy I was looking forward to her next release but must admit that I wasn't sure when I saw it was an illustrated book of humorous verse. As I love Susans drawings I decided to give it a go anyway and so glad I did! The drawings are brilliant, really capturing the spirit of the corgi, and the verses are funny, you will recognise characteristics of your own dog whichever breed you have. A great souvenir of this Olympic/Jubilee year...I hope Susan has sent a copy to the Queen! And to update this review..I liked it so much I bought the printed version too which arrived this morning, the pictures look fabulous in full colour! The Corgi Games - Illustrated Doggerel
