The Cooks Scrapbook 3 Dec 2009
I recently purchased this book as a present for my wife who absolutely loves cooking, the catalyst for buying this particular book was the discovery of an advertising flier produced by readers digest, this was found being used as a bookmark in an old recipe book which had belonged to my wifes grandmother,it was this that prompted a search on Amazon.co.uk.
The details in the flier were extremely convincing maybe even tantalising, this coookbook is full of fantastic old recipes and I can highly recommend it as a serious addition to the bookshelf of any dedicated cook or foodie.I have sampled some of products of the recipes from this book, all I can say is truly amazing, food the way it should be.

A Cookery Bible 8 Oct 2009
This is an absolute cookery bible, packed with over 400 fantastic recipes. Sections include Soups, Dairy, Vegetables and Salads, Sea and River, Meat, Poultry and Game, Pudding and Desserts, Special Occassions (a treasure trove covering everything from an edwardian breakfast, easter, christenings, romantic dinners, picnics and summery food to halloween and christmas), afternoon tea, good cheer (drinks), jams and pickles, and finally food from the wild.

This is a book of traditional recipes, but all delicious, and fail-safe to make. I recommend the wensleydale soup and the mushroom pudding especially, and all the desserts and cakes.

But there is so much more to this book, it's also stuffed with information, history, cookery tips, vintage adverts, cartoons and poems, ancedotes and articles illustrated with photos and postcards. If you are looking for old-fashioned cookery, with lashings of nostalgia, this is the book for you.

An excellent buy, I was looking for a recipe book of Regional British Cuisine for a special weekend I was planning, this book was exactly right for the job. Great dishes, easily understood recipies and delicious end product. The dishes are arranged by item, meat, fish desserts etc.and they really work.
