Totally agree with the 2 previous reviewers. Best cooking book I've ever come across. I'm a beginner cook and I find most cookery books are nice to look at but not very easy to follow. But this book is loaded with practical and delicious-looking recipes. The DVD contains short clips of basic cooking techniques, probably more useful for beginners. The pocket shopping list booklet is very handy when you go shopping, all ingredients and quantities for each recipe in one small book. I think experienced cooks will also enjoy the great variety of recipes covering everything from starters and snacks, mains and sides and cakes and desserts. Well recommended - I'm ordering another one for my niece!

Had this book for about a year. It's packed full of classics and more adventurous recipes without being de rigueur. This is the only book we refer to again and again.
Honestly, you could cook for years with this book alone and not grow tired. We have 3 children in their 20's and when (dear lord when!)they have their own homes this
book will be a feature in all of them.

Really love this new cookbbok. I have been looking for a book that covers the basic to the more complex of standard recipes. The photos and directions are really clear and simple. The edition I got has a handy pantry list so you can keep it in your handbag and when you decide to cook something -you have all the ingredients listed. A very useful idea and helpul. Thoroughly recommend this book.
