4.0 out of 5 stars Best new radio comedy in years 22 Jan 2004
Format:Audio CD
This was a very nice surprise when Radio 4 introduced The Consultants. Clever, witty, whimsical, and totally inoffensive, this is tremendous comedy.
Stand-out sketch for me is the brilliantly slow-paced scene where a ludicrously convoluted plan is drawn up in order for someone to get some notepaper for an exam.
The Consultants manages to do something that very few shows manage, namely making comedy songs work well. The archeology song and "Twenty Below In My Heart" are fantastic.
As another reviewer has said, the only down side is the truly bonkers way the CD chapters bear no relation to the starts and ends of sketches, and just cut in half way through.
Overall, the best radio comedy CD you'll find that doesn't have the title "I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue".

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic radio debut 26 Dec 2003
Format:Audio CD
Wondrously inventive and funny in a way that won't offend normal people, the elderly or children; or elderly children. The sketches are modernly old-fashioned and shortly long, with word-skits underpunning the whole shebang. Glorious.

Despite the technical ineptitude of the BBC's disc making unit ('chapter points' seem spasmodically and randomly placed and can sometimes cut off punchlines - my copy anyway) this is really rather extremely enjoyable.
bingo calling (early sketch in second episode) is just fantastic and a style of humour that we just don't hear anymore.
I'm only just saying this as Justin has just sent me my wifes' shoe and since I have not seen her for a week I assume he has her in his dirty but charming grip.
If you don't have a wife then you are safe to purchase and listen to this. If you are married, however, I urge you never to give details of your address to any of them.
I also suggest using a false name if you ever meet them.
Especially Neil.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Comedy 13 Dec 2012
Format:Audio CD
I really love The Consultants when it is on the radio and had been looking around for it for a while before finding it on Audible. It is one of my favourite comedy shows ever and I think the whole premise works really well. Twenty Below In My Heart and The Hangover Fairy are two of my most-loved songs. There is something for everyone, and would definitely recommend it to everyone.
