Product Description

Review

This book is an easy-to-read but comrehensive guide for anyone embarking on the search for a consultant post in the NHS, The layout of this book makes it easy to digest and it appropriately highlights key points and useful tips in separate 'boxes'; the authors even direct the last minute candidate to the most relevant chapters. I recommend this book for anyone in specialist training as a starting point to planning your career progression. It will be even more useful to the doctor approaching completion of training and actively searching for a job. It also provides valuable insight to the locum consultant who is looking for the ideal substantive post and wants to present him-/herself in the best possible light for future employers. This book is up to date and highly relevant for all junior doctors and consultants. The layout is perfect whatever your level of experience or stage...if you have been short-listed already, follow the advice and skip to the chapter six and beyond.
Its not just about the questions, its about the mind-set!

This is a very thorough guide to the application process. I used it when preparing for my fellowship interviews, and it really did get me into the right mindset to approach the big day.

There's a lot of little gems in this book. It's clear that the authors have first-hand experience of the process. I particularly appreciated the section on assessing the different personality types of the interview panel, and how saying certain phrases may be interpreted completely differently depending on the agenda that the interviewer brings to the table.

Heartily recommended.

Gives a good insight into the consultant interview process and how to prepare - ideally read in final st years and again prior to interview.
Worth the Kindle price.
Would have got 5 stars if updated with hot topics.

this is a good book because it gives an over view. It is relevant for those who have no idea to those who want to brush up and plan. No one book can cover everything but this is certainly a good start.
