Product Description

The Consultant - Passion is always the top story at WLUV.

Jayne Blue introduces you to WLUV, the television station with nothing going for it but hot on-air talent.

THE CONSULTANT is an adult contemporary romance that leads off the WLUV saga.

Macy Green arrives at WLUV after a spectacular scandal. She was the nation’s hottest investigative journalist until her famous sports caster boyfriend publicly dumped her to knock-up America’s favorite perky morning talk show host. They had the romance and sex of the year. She had a pink slip and a broken heart.

Now Macy has been bumped back down to local news, this time as THE CONSULTANT. It’s Macy’s job to fix loser television stations, that’s where WLUV comes in.

WLUV is populated by a quirky cast of characters and is in the ratings basement. That’s why station owner and billionaire, Wes Thompson, wants to shut it down.

WLUV’s one last chance before Wes sells it for parts is Macy Green. Macy Green’s one last chance at happiness is an ill-advised romance with a billionaire, Wes Thompson, if she can stop fighting with him long enough to realize it.

Will the ratings go up? Will WLUV survive? Can a network hotshot find true love in local news? Find out in The Consultant.

Includes a bonus excerpt of The Rookie Reporter: WLUV Book #2

This book is the first in a series and contains sexy scenes with adults in lust on the way to love!

If you’re a fan of grown-up romance, humor, love, and a dash of action and adventure then WLUV is the newsroom for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars good at watch she does 11 Sep 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
it is not often that a romance grabs me, but this one did. It is very well written but more so because Macy is me - focussed, good at watch she does, driven, a task-oriented perfectionist, stubborn..... but underneath the armour of her Teflon-coated heart is a woman who loves deeply and passionately and also very vulnerable. I loved it, read it in one sitting!

4.0 out of 5 stars and also pretty funny in parts 13 July 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Although this genre doesn't pique my interest particularly, I thought this book was well-written and constructed, and also pretty funny in parts.

It features an appealing lead character and a cast of refreshingly idiosyncratic characters. I was left with the impression that the author had a pretty firm grip on the inner workings of the media.

I can't really find too many faults with the book within the confines of its genre, but the story wasn't really penetrating enough for my tastes, and never particularly engaged me. However, I'm sure the book has a large potential audience; if it gets enough exposure, I'm sure readers will thoroughly enjoy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well-written romance 27 Jun 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Macy Green’s a tough, sexy redhead who’s had a rough deal. A successful network reporter, she has an affair with a high-profile sports anchor. When he dumps her for a breakfast TV star, the network plays the glamorous new couple for all they’re worth – and quietly dumps Macy as well. Piecing her life back together, she takes a lower profile and joins a media consultancy, and is sent to failing local stations around the country to help them improve or die.

Meanwhile the aging billionaire head of conglomerate Thompson-Hardaway decides that his handsome son Wes needs some hands-on experience in the real world. And some time with real people. “Listen,” he says. “You’ve been pretty ruthless since... well, since your marriage collapsed. I’m worried about you. You don’t enjoy very much.” He tells Wes he’s sending him to turn around a struggling local TV station. “Wes hugged his dad and walked away. Apparently he was headed to Bum F**, Michigan, also known as WLUV-TV in Grand City.”

And so is Macy, hired to help him turn the station round. The name WLUV is a pretty good indication of what happens next.

Jayne Blue’s The Consultant (WLUV, #1) – there’s already a WLUV sequel, The Rookie Reporter – is a romantic novel of the sort that often has a feisty heroine who resists pressure from the handsome hero, but might change her mind if she can change him for the better. This genre has been around for a while but has evolved as it has become acceptable to include explicit sex, so that the borders with erotica are getting blurred. The Consultant does have explicit sex, but there’s plenty of storyline, and besides the love story we get to see Macy try to revive a run-down TV station with boring news coverage. If she can’t push up the ratings the station will close.
