You know how now and again an album due for release keeps getting postponed and there's the waiting game, then finally the album get it's much anticipated release and you wonder if the wait's been worth it? Well this is worth it...and then some!
I've played it a few times and thought it sounded quite stunning,so i sat down to read the lyrics as it was playing, just to soak it all in and i was blown away by just how fantastic it all is,i don't dislike anything on here,i seriously love every track.
Here arrives this famous daughter, stunningly beautiful with a unique voice and songs that are hard to label.
I would suppose you could call this electro dance kind of music, but i call it other worldly. The voice is just so enjoyable, one of those voices that i'm sure some just won't get,but those that do will lap up. The songs, which are mostly uptempo, have a whole load of talent inserted into them, even the slower songs are just sublime. Also the lyrics, whilst ambiguous at times, are just brilliant, that enigma just shines it's majestic beauty on every track. The production, for my liking,is just right, you can hear the hours and hours of work that went into getting it just right.
If you've heard SELFMACHINE or any other song from this album and liked it,the rest of it surely cannot disappoint, who could be disappointed by what must surely go down in music's history as a classic? I can only imagine how good this album sounds live,it must be spellbinding. This isn't just another album as far as i'm concerned, things this special just doesn't come along that often and we should cherish them when they do. If someone held a gun to my head and told me to find something i don't like on here,i would have to lie. It's that simple.

I've listened to many of the demo's of this album in the past year(s) and personally I liked the reggae/ska style a bit better. Nevertheless is this a brilliant first album of Coco. If you want to hear and see I Blame Coco at her full potential, please visit her live show! :o) You won't be disappointed.

Blimey! Sting's little girl done good! I stopped liking Mr Sumner's music
a very long time ago but there's not a whiff of rainforest about this
largely jolly collection of fourteen tracks produced by the estimable
Klaus Ahlund. He has brought 'The Constant' into land glowing with the
fine electro-glossy sound with which he is associated and does so well.

For her part Ms Coco sings splendidly and has spun (with varying degrees of
assistance) some very good tunes into being. She has a distinctive voice.
Low, fruity, rich and throaty. The beats are big; the synths glisten and
sparkle. All in all it's a perfectly pleasant affair. Not great but very good.

None of the songs go on too long. Economy can be a boon in the right hands.
Strongest amongst them 'Turn Your Back On Love' makes a bid for best of
the bunch. It really is a cracking composition which romps along between
workmanlike verse to uplifting chorus with beautifully calibrated confidence.

'In Spirit Golden' has oodles of a nice kind of eighties exuberance running
through it. Chunky pitch-perfect terrestrially-tied space-age power-pop.

'Quicker' is a marvelously old-fashioned confection with the tiniest whiff of Goth
about it. The rhythmic structure lends itself to high-kicks and ribald twirling.

'Party Bag' is another cracking anthem. Ms Sumner does her very best to sound
mean and moody but she can't help throwing herself into the gorgeous uplifting
chorus and nail it to the studio wall with warmth, enthusiasm and conviction.

'Caesar', a duet with Robyn, is about as down and dirty as things get.
It storms along like an angry wasp stuck in a milk bottle but funnier!

It is strangely creepy in a way...if you listen to this album without having seen Coco's photo ever in your life, you think... is this the new Sting? but how come he sounds so..young?!
I have listened to the album twice and it grows fast in me. Fresh, crispy sound, modern and catchy, not pretentious. Definetely a very good first album. Very good sound mix. I don't know if her father had any part in the making of (she says not), but the only influence I was able to pick up is his voice!
I think her voice is very interesting, it'd be worth to see how it matures, as she sounds quite androgynous. Watch her space..
