Although the Norwegian,Gunnar Staalesen,is not the
most widely known of Scandinavian crime writers in
the UK and USA,'The Consorts of Death'reveals him to
be one of the finest.
The story features the fascinating private detective,
Varg Veum.He learns that an ex-child client ,when he was a
child protection officer, has now grown up,and holds a grudge
against him,and wants to get even. The novel takes us back
to two incidents in the boy's past when he was connected with
three murders, and Veum tried to help him.The lively plot keeps
one interested and on edge until the end.
This excellent novel is one of the publishers'Eurocrime'
