5.0 out of 5 stars Change your life ... Read this book! 24 April 2014
Format:Paperback
If there were 10 stars I would tick them all.

A special person purchased this book for me after recognizing a constant struggle I had with putting my creativity into action. I was absolutely terrified of failure. To the point that it crippled me and my potential to be great, every single day.

Following a devastating but much needed break up I decided to read this book. I knew I had to work on myself and this book was where it all began. I spent my 26th birthday in a small room completely immersed in this book. It was the best birthday I ever had. The best gift I gave myself was that time to sit, learn and work on me.

Within THREE weeks my life changed. I had a new found confidence that I owe to Annie Ashdown and her amazing book. From being completely depressed and wondering where my life would go, hardly any confidence to take me there to securing an amazing job (after searching for 6 months since graduating), I sang at the Savoy Theatre for the Prince of Wales and made career choices that would change my life.

Since, I have recommended this book to everyone I know. People I've met in the new work place to people I worked with at the Savoy. I've tweeted about this book, shared photographs on Instagram and facebook. I cannot recommend this book more.

So if you have all the tools to be the best you can be but the confidence is lacking? THIS is the book for you!

*easy to read, funny in parts, great case studies.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Real Deal 10 April 2014
Format:Paperback
I found Annie's book a really useful investigation into exactly what the aspects are that define confidence. I found it both inspirational and invigorating; the call to action at the end of each chapter literally gave me direction for what I needed to do and who I needed to be that day. Annie Ashdown is the real deal; she doesn't profess to be a magic wand which makes me trust her well oiled tools and point of view even more. The whole point is self-responsibility for developing one's own confidence. I particularly enjoyed learning some language and phrases I could apply immediately to assert myself in a self-respecting manner. Easy to read. 100% genuine. A practical punch. Love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great book! 7 Nov. 2014
Format:Paperback
I just finished reading The Confidence Factor. What a great book!

Annie thoroughly explains each of the seven secrets to include providing practical stories (hers, her clients’, and friends/business associates) to broaden her exploration on each. Of the many things I learned, my biggest takeaway is that self-confidence is critical to one’s happiness; and, it is my responsibility to own, leverage and control ‘my self-confidence’ to the fullest possible extent.

There are quotes from many notables placed strategically throughout the book. They add to Annie’s exploration of the seven secrets. Four spoke most to me: “The world will ask who you are, and if you do not know, the world will tell you.” – Carl Jung, “I will not allow anyone to walk through my mind with their dirty feet.” – Gandhi, “They cannot take away our self-respect if we do not give it to them.” – Gandhi, and “Be yourself, everyone else it taken.” – Oscar Wilde.

5.0 out of 5 stars Genius 3 Nov. 2013
By Dot
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I found this to be extremely informative, sensitive and it gave a language to aspects of life that have always bothered me which is very helpful and enlightening.. I like the concise nature of the book... I also bought Annie Ashdown's last book, Doormat nor Diva and found that amazingly useful. My husband kept dipping into it too... I think in our society we are quite starved of real 'meat and potatoes' information about relational dynamics in all areas really.
I think people like myself who struggle with self confidence and esteem issues would benefit from a guide to life in these areas, so I'm glad to have another book by Ms Ashdown. I wish everyone had a copy and understood about the space between people and how important it is to negotiate it well.... I am an Annie Ashdown fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now this is what I call Self-Help 28 Oct. 2013
By NEO
Format:Paperback
The Confidence Factor is a must-read for anyone interested in personal development and personal effectiveness (aren't we all?!). It is great for both self-coaching and for coaching others. Read it in one sitting or pick it up regularly for helpful and pragmatic tools and tips. The writing is engaging, direct and no-nonsense - with none of the `fluff' that you find in many self-help books these days. Oh, and as a bonus, Annie Ashdown has gone to great lengths to share useful examples of well-known people who have applied aspects of the Seven Secrets successfully. Her passion and depth of knowledge is visible on every page. Just read it, please - you'll be glad you did.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read 15 Feb. 2014
Format:Paperback
This is a highly inspiring read.

The beauty of this book lies in its simplicity - easy to follow structure, full of everyday examples and real life insights.

I love Annie's use of quotes and how they are carefully aligned to the subject matter.

Interestingly I was hooked on this book the moment I read the seven "principles" Annie learned from her Dad that she shares with us in her acknowledgements page. Simple, personal, but quite profound. In many ways it set the tone for the rest of the book - be positive about life and life will be positive to you.

A great read. Hope it inspires you the way it inspired me.
