Product Description

Patty Doyle holds the secret to eternal life, but it may only bring her an early death. Patty is working on a journal of a 14th Century alchemist. But after mentioning it in her blog she gets to the office to find everyone brutally murdered. Now she's on the run pursued by a killer who wants the secret of eternal life it contains. The Concordances of the Red Serpent is a thriller set in the USA, Canada and Scotland and echoes back to the glossy caper movies of Hitchcock. Mix with a bit of Da Vinci Code type musings on alchemical secrets and stir well.

If you want fast action, a dabble in the occult, transatlantic suspense and some Medieval Alchemy thrown in for good measure - then this is definitely the right book for you.

From the opening scene you find yourself being dragged along with the main characters: Patty the unassuming manuscript archiver, her rescuer Alex - a very mysterious and charming soul, the rampaging Ross - a lacky of the arrogant and omnipotent Pharmaceutical owner Adams, and the NYPD cops Turner and Mendoza - one troubled veteran and his partner.

With really tense scenes that dangle a few clues before you, the story leaps between the various chases and meetings of these increasingly intertwined groups, picking up and discarding a number of well written acquaintances and friends along the way until the final violent climax that brings them all together in the search for enlightenment, immortality and the truth.

Having previously read Mostly Human and Brotherhood of The Thorns, I was expecting a well written and exciting story, and while I certainly wasn't disappointed, I hadn't thought there would be so much Historical background (teased from the mists of Fact and Myth) to set behind the modern-day action, and keep the reader informed as the action raced along.

A really really good read, you could easily see this being a Movie with all its tense scenes, detailed locations and plot twists - and it's such a bargain on the Kindle at this price.

A superb novel 7 April 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
For me to say that William Meikle has written an entertaining novel, would be and understatement. Concordance is one of the best stories I have read in quite some time. The cast of characters are superb. There is the naïve manuscript cataloger, Patty Doyle. Whose life turns upside down when she arrives at work and finds all of her colleagues dead. Fortunately for her, Alex Seton shows up. He's a quirky Scotsman whose charming personality and way with words gave me some good laughs. Seton is a resourceful man who always has a backup plan. Their quest to find the missing pages of the concordance takes them Scotland. They are pursued by Ross, a very bad man who's harder to take down than a raging bull. Concordance has more twists and turns than rampaging river and kept me turning pages. Mr Meikle knows how to tell an exciting story and he included some satisfying surprises along the way. A superlative read.

Alchemy From New York to Scotland 11 Mar 2012
By Bruce J. Blanchard - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Consider this a wake up call to the writings of William Meikle; his writings are not to be ignored by those who love the element of horror and the unusual. Whereas some may take a while in their writings to step (oooh, what was that?!) into a situation, Meikle steps right into it (yeah...that's what I thought it was...eeew!). Patty Doyle has done the unforgiveable. She has a blog and records personal thoughts about her boss, not good. She's fired and returns looking for support from her friends. This is not a good move, because they are dead, murdered. A man leads her away with her life in danger. She and the man, Alex Seton, will keep the both of them running clear into Scotland. Behind them is Det. Mike Turner and Samantha Mendoza. And behind them is the spoon-fed and controlling Adams and his personal man, Ross...ever eager to kill. Secrets to reveal. I like this novel as it leads you on with the revelation that leads everyone to the final conclusion.
William Meikle has been described as one of the "masters of pulp." Concordances has been described as an adventure story and so it is. It reveals itself in it's own good time. This novel comes highly recommended...for all of you.. While you are at it, check out his other writings.
