This is basically a review of the box-set itself, not the music contained therein. As a fairly new convert to Deicide, brought into the fold by their stellar album, "To Hell With God",(which you can read a review of on Amazon) I felt it necessary to hear what I've been missing all these years. This box set was the perfect way to accomplish much of that feat with little work and not much money either.
This contains their first 6 albums, all released on Roadrunner records. Apparently most reviews I've read claim the first 4 to be the best, I'll decide that for myself and hopefully publish a review for each individual album in the future. The CDs all come in paperboard sleeves with the original artwork-front and back- much like some records used to come; no jewel cases or booklets with lyrics and thank-yous and such. They're all stacked nicely in a box that opens up like a book or a hinged shoe-box (which I prefer to sliding in and out the end of a box). The price is right, especially if you shop around in the Amazon market place, got mine for nearly half of retail.
The pros: You get the first 6 albums for a great price. Really nice for those playing "catch-up". Way better than a "best of" collection on one CD.
The cons: You get JUST the first 6 albums of music--no jewel cases, no lyrics, no extras. If you can live with that, this is a great set.
