5.0 out of 5 stars Always Humourous 1 Aug. 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I couldn't believe it when I saw this, and just had to download it. This contains all the words to the pair's fourteen operettas, these are:-

The Gondoliers
The Grand Duke
HMS Pinafore
The Mikado
The Pirates of Penzance
Princess Ida
The Sorcerer
Trial By Jury
Utopia Limited
The Yeomen of The Guard

Although the words are all here, and stage directions, these is no musical score, and if you want that as well you will probably find it somewhere on this site. Although the songs are correctly formatted, the actual speaking parts aren't so well done, and they are also set out like the lyrics, however this isn't much of a hardship, seeing as this doesn't cost anything. Although there is no active table of contents in the 'Go To' menu, if you click on the cover option then you will find one.

The viewing public are a fickle lot, but I think we can safely say that these have endured admirably, although of course some are much better than others. I think everyone has their own personal favourite, mine is 'The Yeomen of The Guard', and due to their popularity I don't think they need an opening introduction. If you ever get a chance to see any of these performed on stage, then go for it. I have been fortunate to see two performed so far, and I want to see them all - hopefully.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb, and free. Contents link to plays too 11 Feb. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
i have the collected librettos in 2nd hand book form and am delighted with the Kindle edition. Formatting OK (not perfect, but it is free!) and the table of contents links to the individual operettas.

Gilbert was a genius, and I'm off to see Iolathne next week!

4.0 out of 5 stars A most excellant book 15 Dec. 1998
By A Customer
This book is full of musical plays and the scripts are worded well for possible performance. The only problem is that the sheet music is missing and from experience it is a headache to find but other than that it is a good book that stimulates the imagination.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent !! 24 Jan. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
We have very much enjoyed following each G &S opera on our new book and are so pleased we decided to buy
it. Some of the dialogue is really difficult to follow but having the words make such a difference even although we
thought we were quite familiar with most of them. The books is really excellent and we can recommend it to
everyone who loves the operas.

4.0 out of 5 stars The plays are good as is widely known 23 Nov. 2014
By Chris
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The plays are good as is widely known. The draw back, being on kindle, is that you have to find the beginning of the play you are interested in and I cannot see how that is done easily. I marked down the % start of each play and converted that into numbers. It worked but what a nuisance. Perhaps there is an easier way to do it?
