5.0 out of 5 stars Not just for Weegies. . . 12 Oct 2007
Format:Paperback
. . .but for all who savour wit and humour. The Patter is arguably one of the great unacknowledged classic dialect books of our time - it sells by the barrowload in Glasgow of course, and has done since 1988, but has universal appeal. There have been lots of imitations of The Patter - in Scotland and out - but this is the original and best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Wee Book! 18 Mar 2009
Format:Paperback
Very straight-forward book to penetrate into the Glaswegian culture. You can't get a better book than this for this lovely Glaswegian dialect, really! The one and only complaint which I have is that it would've been more helpful if it's English-Glaswegian instead of Glaswegian-English. Therefore, this book is useful if you want to understand what they are speaking about, but not when you want to speak like them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Dead Brilliant 7 July 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
What it doesn't tell you in the synopsis, is that this is a book on that well known dialect - Glaswegian.

Could be useful for anyone confused by the likes of Rab C or Billy Connolly.

Wonderful reminder for anyone who has spent time in our fair city.
