trouble shooting guide
The complete manual describes the log4j API in considerable detail, including its features and design rationale. Authored by Ceki Gülcü, one of log4j's key contributors, the manual is intended for developers already familiar with the Java language but new to log4j, as much as for experienced log4j users. With the aid of introductory material and many examples, new users should quickly come up to speed. Seasoned log4j users will also find fresh material not discussed anywhere else. Advanced topics are also covered in detail so that the reader can harness the full power of log4j.

This is a great manual. It contains a sufficient amount of detail to use the package. It supplies examples of proper usage as well as the principles involved. -- Robert Blumen, Novermber 2002

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for beginners of Log4j 31 May 2004
Great for beginners of Log4j, this book covered all the basics required as well more detailed information to allow you to develop complex logging systems in your programmes. It helped me develop the logging system I needed for my application within an hour of picking up the book. I keep finding myself reaching for the book every time I had a problem because it always had the solution.

5.0 out of 5 stars great content but ... 12 Sep 2012

this book is available in pdf format directly from the developer - check out his site (google it).

If you need this book that should be the best way to get it - and if you need it printed I'm betting you can do better that 100 plus for a bound version of the pdf. Your mileage may vary but the book is an extension of the online documentation and may be worth it - depends on your needs.
