Excellent Encyclopedic Handbook.
This is a must-have for any serious photographer and for keen photography students.
The content is extensive covering all major themes and techniques that one may need to learn well as well as refer to periodically in pursuit of learning modern photography. Perusing this Guide, one becomes fully literate - and at high standards - about all major essentials of digital photography. This content is developed steadily as it undertakes a paced learning journey.
A hundred topics have been presented over a couple of pages each, aptly presented spread across each other, abundantly illustrated in color. The verbiage is English proper with minimal technical clutter; where new terms are introduced, they are explained fully and a glossary accompanies its shorter definition also. Equipment and shots that are illustrated are mostly recent ones and so, up-to-date. The pictures are also explained, often in before-after versions, explaining the process. While its size may seem bulky, the good space provided in the top and side margins is helpful to make notes.
The Guide is an excellent companion, literally, and will attract multiple readings. It can be read fully over a weekend by photographers with some experience and over reasonable time by fresh photography students. The true value will be found in referring to this Guide periodically as it will not become obsolescent for at least a couple of years (and perhaps this very author will be ready with the then latest, next edition). The Guide and the time put into it are worthwhile investments indeed.
