Amazon.co.uk Review

The Complete Encyclopedia of Formula One is, quite simply, the bible of motorsport. Bruce Jones has crafted a masterful reference book which leaves all others standing on the grid. Its cover price isn't cheap but no devotee of Fomula One can afford to be without it.

It is a real heavyweight in terms of appearance--and also the amount of essential information on the history of the sport, drivers, teams, circuits and statistics carried on the pages--and it is certainly no coffee table filler, but a real working manual. Jones' use of pictures throughout the book complements the text which is concise, yet never misses a lap without the need for a pit-stop. And despite the use of black-and-white photographs Jones' language, obvious love and knowledge of the sport shine through the pages to leave the reader almost being able to experience the sounds and noises on a highly-charged grid during qualifying or on race day.

If you only ever purchase one motorsport book in your life, make sure it's this one because you can be guaranteed you won't ever need to buy another one! --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

There are many books offering themselves as a source of information about all aspects of Formula One, but this one is truly comprehensive. It has information about almost every driver to ever compete in a Formula One grand prix; all of the teams to compete; almost all of the circuits ever raced on and lots of statistical information. It also looks at each season in the sport's history. This book offers anyone interested in the sport an excellent opportunity to brush-up on details, learn something new and enjoy a useful resource. The only downside to the book is that there are no colour photographs and those photographs that are included are perhaps not the best that could have accompanied the excellent information contained within the covers.

Encyclopedia of F1 Reviewed: 24 Aug 2000

Those familiar with the "Encyclopedia" books of other sports will know that this is a statistical journey rather than a photographic timeline. This book covers every Constructor, Driver, Circuit, and Record since the British Grand Prix 13 May 1950 when Giuseppe Farina won this 70 lap race in 2hr13m23.6sec driving for Alpha Romeo SpA. However, the book may seem dated as it ends coverage with the European Grand Prix in October of 1997. Most of the current Formula One drivers are covered though maybe with a different team. There is also a nice Forward by the British voice of Formula One, Murray Walker. A good reference book for any F1 fan with an interest in the history of this sport. Remember, no glossy photos of brave drivers or the powerful and beautiful cars they pilot, just some Black and White shots here and there and interesting facts and figures about Formula One in between.

The ultimate guide to F1 9 Oct 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Its a good, voluminous, and heavy book (as a good encyclopedia should be), with all drivers, teams, and circuits up to 1999. Color photographs of most of the above are provided. Unfortunately the circuit descriptions don't include track layouts and sometimes its difficult to know where they are. The final stats section has all the numbers and categories you could need. A great reference book!

Non Fiction 3 Sep 2007
By Blue Tyson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
The Complete Encyclopedia of Formula One by Bruce Jones is a reasonably useful reference. I have seen better sport books of this type, but I guess given this is motor racing you aren't going to expect a whole lot of this sort of thing to be available, or great.

It was useful at the time, though, and has some interesting information.
