Product Description

Book Description

When shy convent girl Mary O'Brien reinvented herself as Dusty Springfield, one of the most glamorous, accomplished and acclaimed pop divas of the 1960s was born.

Dusty's career began with the Lana Sisters, and continued with folk group the Springfields before her first solo success in 1963 with the unforgettable 'I Only Want To Be With You.' Subsequent hits included the classics 'I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself', 'You Don't Have To Say You Love Me' and 'Son-of-a Preacher Man'.

Dusty Slipped into obscurity in the 1970s, but re-emerged in 1987 to enjoy new success duetting with the Pet Shop Boys. She lost her long battle with cancer in 1999, just short of her sixtieth birthday.

Drawing on meticulous archive research and interviews with Dusty's friends and collaborators, Paul Howes details every song in Dusty's entire catalogue. This revised edition of The Complete Dusty Springfield includes new chapters on the Lana Sisters and the Springfields, expanded entries on Dusty's solo tracks and an in-depth analysis of Dusty's live work for TV and radio.

Nobody knows more about Dusty Springfield and her music than Paul Howes, and this book proves it. Paul's work is the "Bible" of Dusty's recording career and no true fan should be without it. The book is loaded with pictures and interesting tid-bits about each and every one of Dusty's releases. It's a tribute to her long and prolific musical legacy and a treasure to own. I suggest you subscribe to Paul's "Dusty Springfield Bulletin," too. It's a teriffic publication for new and old fans alike. Thanks, Paul.

ThIS is the book Dusty Springfield would have been so very proud of. Forget the others. Paul has done such a wonderful job and has devoted so much time and energy into producing something that every Dusty Springfield fan will enjoy reading. The data collection is amazing, and the exacting way he has gone about his task of producing this publication warrants the highest respect possible. A very talented fellow you are Paul and you deserve all the accolades you get, and there will be many.
