Product Description

Album Description

• Formed in 1983, Salvation were one of the original Leeds based "Goth" bands and brought out their first 12" on Merciful Release – the label run by the Sisters of Mercy.

• Thereafter, Salvation were regular visitors to the Indie Top 20 alongside their contemporaries: the Mission, Skeletal Family and Red Lorry Yellow Lorry.

• A well rehearsed set and a close rapport with their audience led to a reputation for exciting live shows and, in 1989, the band signed to Miles Copeland’s IRS label, Success beckoned but the band acrimoniously split the following year

• 15 years on, amidst the current 80’s obsession, it’s time to reappraise Salvation’s valuable contribution to the early alternative rock scene.

• This compilation features 20 tracks which have been digitally remastered. It brings together all of Salvation’s recorded work between 1985 and 1989, and includes bonus track ‘Girlsoul’, their Andy Eldritch produced debut – which appears here on CD for the first time.

Great memories 15 Aug 2005
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Age can not wither them nor custom stale their style .............with apologies to the bard. Excellent to have these tracks available on CD - quality is good. Danny's vocals in Strange Fruit show of his voice. Some wonderful melodies. Have Sass from when it came out, but did not have these tracks that were usually played live and now my life is complete. One can only hope for a comeback ........a reunion.....

Finally 15 July 2006
Format:Audio CD
Although had most of the opriginal's on vinyl, my record player blew up year's ago. Have been waiting to get my hands on this for years. Anybody who saw them live will appreciate the quality of this. Brings back many memories of the summer of 87 travelling around the country sleeping in fields, train statuions and the floors of other T'birds houses.

At Last 12 April 2010

Finally I get to hear the tracks that I never had. It has been so long after hearing them play live, I was surprised how much of the songs I knew. I'll be honest and admit that I didn't know half the titles but after a few bars, the memories came flooding back. If you were there at the gigs, whether it be them headlining at Camden Palace or supporting the Nephilim or other bands, you will want to buy this CD and enjoy being taken back to those days of endless gigging and clubbing.

Quality is OK and as good as I was expecting, the track selection is huge (never knew that they had son many songs!) and the Eldritch produced bonus track is a "Sisters" spin on their unique style.

Enjoy!
