I love this album. Like a lot of compilations, you have your favourites, and it might be said it doesn't quite hang together like a 'normal' album. But then again, I don't think anyone expects that of a remix compilation, do they?
For me, the album achieves lift-off at track five with 'Louder Than Words'. That familiar insistent riff starts, and you think 'so far so good', then suddenly it goes completely Skrillex on you, before visiting Ibiza for a few moments, then it's back to that pounding Skrillexian stomp.
This is basically a collection of stomping, robotic, wobbling, splicing, squeezing, scratching, rocking electronica.
However, track ten may be more suitable for those that find the aforementioned noises unpalatable, as it takes you back to the 90's with killer rap-rock in the form of 'Shapeshifter'.
In general, the style of the music on this album may not be for everyone, but it's had many more plays on my iPod than 'Wish Upon a Blackstar', the more conventional studio album that preceded it.
It may be a while before Klayton - no, make that 'ANYONE' - produces an album that's as earth-shaking as the classic 'Celldweller' debut album. But he knows how to write a tune, and is inventive with it, and that will always make him worth listening to.

Never heard of this guy before Pandora. Now I can't stop. Good Beats and melody, some words, but I like his music more than his singing.

Like I said anything he is doing or has done sounds awesome to me. I needed some good music to dance to for a party and I found this gem. it is not like a large amount of his work but still has that polished feel. Anyone who likes Industrial or dance should love this album. Don't let the title fool you Klayton did not sell out with this album.
Great Companion To Wish Upon A Blackstar 14 Feb. 2015
By JSwank - Published on Amazon.com

As The Beta Cessions were the remix/alternate versions of the debut Celldweller release, so this beast is the companion to Wish Upon A Blackstar. And while that release was a double CD packaged together, the "Volume 1" moniker here would hint that a second disc is on the way in the near ... or distant future. Klayton states that many of these songs were reworked for the 2011/2012 live show with Blue Stahli. As with all things Celldweller the sounds are amazing, but these songs have less of that "metal" feel and much more of a dance/trance vibe. While this isn't a bad thing, listeners like me - who don't frequent this genre - may experience considerable "listener fatigue" whilst rocking out to this CD. These mixes/remixes are considerably different when compared to the originals. Dubstep is an integral component to the new Celldweller sound and Klayton is really as good anyone in the genre - perhaps he has graduated to the top of the class. Highly energetic and entertaining.

Dubstep and Celldweller go hand in hand like peanut butter and jelly. If you love Dubstep, you will love these remixes. It is amazing what artists can do with Celldweller's concepts.
