Book Description

1 Oct 2011
Born in the Bohemian town of Maffersdorf on September 3, 1875, Ferdinand Porsche displayed unparalleled automotive engineering genius from his earliest years. Following stellar work at Austro-Daimler, as well as with his own engineering firm, he formed his own automobile company after World War II, developing a line of sports cars which culminated in the fabled 911, the ultimate expression of Porsche's original vision for the perfect sports car. The Complete Book of Porsche 911 provides a model-by-model, overview for each year of the 911's production, from the original 901 prototype to the current models. In addition to production cars, the book includes all of the factory's racing, prototype, and special-production cars illustrated with both current and archival photography. This book is the ultimate single-volume resource for the 911 aficionado.

Review

Lots of pictures from the archives and original sources. A good read.
--The Scotsman, December 2011

All the vital info is there and it's well illustrated too.
--911 Porsche World February 2012

"the prolific Leffingwell has produced a work that lives up to the title, as it is undeniably comprehensive."
--Octane, 1st March 2012

It's not a fact file, it's not a picture book - the balance is just right.
--Classic Car Mart, April 2012

Written from the perspective of a US Porsche enthusiast...offers plenty of detail in both text and images
--Classics Montly, April 1, 2012

4.0 out of 5 stars A good reference point 9 May 2012
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Some great photography, interesting one-offs (the 4dr 911 from '67 for example), some RUF's and a comprehensive run through of factory cars from prototypes in '48 to (almost) the latest GT3 RS, including race models...something for everyone and a good reference point for most 911 fans...a heavy US bias (not really surprising though given the subject and the author)and a few typo's make it less than perfect, but not a bad effort.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book 3 April 2013
By Fausto
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This is a book about the legendary 911. It has a small introduction to the world of Porsche at the begging but it's mainly about 911.
I'm fan of the 911 series therefore this book was one that should be on my shelf a long time ago.
Wonderful photos and a lot of text for the curiosity minds like me.

If you're a Porsche fan, you will love this book.

2.0 out of 5 stars 933 targa 8 Jan 2014
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Just disappointed that this book misses some models that I actually own. Not even one photo of the 993 targa. So it's no so complete...
