This is fantastic book! The examples of mothers-in-law of famous people in history and stories from non famous people sharing their experiences of being a mother in law and/or having one, make this a fantastic read. I really enjoyed hearing about the famous people and what people like the impact that the mother in law of the marquis de sade had on his life. The short chapters, each very interesting in their own right, make this perfect for my tube journey to work. The journey to and from work was lost in the many different stories within the book. This would make a great present and I would recommend it to anyone!

This book is an easy read. It really celebrates the relationship between mothers-in-law and their daughters and sons-in-law throught out history because it goes against the stereotype of mothers-in-law as coming from hell and not only shows their important role but also their love and devotion to them, sometimes more than to their own children.I gave a copy of it to my mother-in-law who as many mothers-in-law in this book is a real friend and acts like a real mother to me. I strongly recommend this book.
