Names are really aimed at parents who are after traditional and cultural based names for their children. My partner and I are into modern, more creative names, and therfore found the book to be not to our requirements.

My wife and I were looking for inspiration for babies names, trawling the internet on various sites to get some ideas. Finally we ordered this book from Amazon and read all the names from A to Z and came up with our first short list. We left it a few days and went back again and narrowed it down again. Finally, when our little girl was born we picked a name that we liked years ago.

This book contains thousands of names for girls and boys, together with their meaning. If you are looking for some ideas for names that you can read at your own comfort......... BUY THIS BOOK!!

I found this book excellent. It has more names and ideas than any other baby book that I have ever seen. It was all that I needed and gave me many names to consider, many that I hadn't even thought about. It gives comprehensive meanings and is easy to use and refer to quickly, particularly when you need to spend your precious time getting other things ready for baby!!

Not my favourite baby name book but it is a pretty big list of names. Good for ideas but I think there are better ones out there.

A Useful Name Book 25 July 2007
By Donna Marie Chelland - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This is a helpful name book to use as reference for all writers that
are writing medieval romance. A exceptional name book of old English, welsh and celtic names of medieval England. A highly recommended book for writers to keep on their reference keepers shelve.
Not for writers 4 Aug. 2011
By Mikelle H. Fraizer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I bought this book because not only did it list the origin of the name (Greek, for instance) but also what the name meant (Alice means "truth," for instance). Unfornately, the book does not give me a list of medieval names that have Anglo-Saxon orgins and if you search out a name (like Alice) it tells you Alicia is one of the variations, but not that that particular one is the medieval variation. It is simply one big, alphabetical list A-Z with a one-word what it means and a list of variations of the name. This would be okay for naming a baby but not a niche-market writer.
