5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have for a Beatle fan 29 Dec 2011
Format:Paperback
This is a classic. A superbly researched book that is written very well. Since the story of The Beatles has been told over and over again you may find things very familiar. Yet this book is so detailed and has a great section on pre Beatles and early Beatles history that even for that it's worth the purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shame the front cover photo is back to front 15 April 2012
Format:Paperback
Shame the front cover photo is back to front! Apart from that, detailed and scholarly as you'd expect from Mark Lewisohn: a bit like the Complete Recordings book, but with all the gigs and other Beatle events included. Though I reckon anyone coming to this book afresh, in 2012, should probably wait for the new ultra-definitive one Lewisohn (apparently) has planned.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great piece of history 30 Oct 2011
By Allen
Format:Paperback
What can I say - its author is a fan and an acknowledged authority, it has a foreword by George Martin. I love it, and often refer to it.
For Beatles fans or for people who weren't around at the time and have no idea what a group, particularly them, had to do, this is fascinating.
It shows the gruelling schedule, the speed at which albums had to be recorded, interviews given etc.
The world has changed, of course, so this is a history, but a great one.
