There are lots of other ideas here too; creating wildlife areas to attract frogs, toads, hedgehogs and other gardener's friends into the garden, various ways of making compost, liquid manures, no-dig gardening and green manures to list just a few. I'm itching to get outside and try some of them out; the only downside is that I will have to wait until the spring to get started with the actual business of growing my own plant companions ...
