About the Author

A freelance magazine editor, journalist and author, Chris Hunt has written about music, football and film for over 20 years. He has traveled all over the world writing about football. His book World Cup Stories: The History Of The FIFA World Cup was published in 2006 to accompany a BBC TV series. His experiences in Japan for the World Cup in 2002 were documented in the BBC TV program Beckham For Breakfast, and his journeys around the globe following the England football team were featured in his weekly newspaper columns. Spending eight years at Emap as the Managing Editor of Match, he transformed the title into the UK s biggest selling football magazine. During his editorship he also launched fortnightly sister title Sported and was voted Emap s Editor Of The Year. He has also produced Premiership preview supplements for The Sun newspaper and was the editor of The Official Wayne Rooney Annual 2007. For three years he was also the Editor of The Match Of The Day Annual, and for 18 months he had a contract to run the official Tottenham Hotspur club magazine. In 2009 he worked with Umbro, helping the British sportswear company by officially documenting the development of the new England football kit. Now a regular contributor to FourFourTwo, he was also editor of special editions of Q, Mojo, Uncut and NME covering subjects as diverse as U2, The Beatles, Kurt Cobain, mod and punk rock. Chris has missed very few games played by the England football team in the last ten years and as a hobby, in his spare time, runs a record label called Tangerine Records.

4.0 out of 5 stars Book Review 10 Jun 2010
By Paul
Format:Paperback
This book offers the reader the choice of using it as a reference book to dip into when that all-important factoid is asked during the football, or as a journey from the first World Cup and its trials and tribulations right up to the latest. I really like the in-depth articles on the various heroes of World Cups gone by, and reading these pages I found myself remembering players and matches from past World Cups, a bit like going through your old Panini sticker album, except in this book all the players are there! I even brushed up on my knowledge of when various teams have qualified and was surprised by some of the earlier World Cups member teams and eventual winners - even if you have a good working knowledge of the World Cup this book will quickly tell you something you didn't already know! The tone of the articles allow you to dip in and out, it is as easy to pick up and browse as a magazine but as captivating as best selling novel - there are facts about facts and World Cup stories that you otherwise wouldn't know.

Finally, a World Cup reference book that manages to entertain as well as inform - a coffee table must-have for every discerning World Cup addict!
