Product Description

An album of traditional and original songs by one of the all time great voices of the English folk scene. Renowned on both sides of the Atlantic for his uncompromisingly gritty talent, Davenport's recording history goes back over four decades producing raw, idiosyncratic nuggets. His unique poetic realism has been a profound influence on such disparate artists as Richard Thompson and Ray Davies. Never one to court fashion he has remained true to the living tradition while being on the cutting edge of revivalism. When word got around that Bob was recording this album, the cream of the current folk scene queued for the chance to participate. The final list includes appearances by Richard & Linda Thompson, Chumbawamba Acoustic, Martin Carthy, Mike & Norma Waterson, John Tams, Coope, Boyes & Simpson and Fi Fraser. The resulting album is raw, real and original: an album by a man who knows his art - and it shows.

In short, a thoroughly uplifting bunch of songs, Another addition to the positivity that can surround us if we want it. People recording this music have already made little changes to the world. it is like listening to a friend you have yet to meet, telling stories about where they have been, that you haven't and what it's like there. Also contains a version of "heart like a wheel" a lovely song rendered even lovelier. Dip your bread in while the gravy is warm.

In short a thoroughly uplifting set of songs and a perfect way of forgetting that some people don't know how to spell negativity correctly.

Format: Audio CD
In short, a thoroughly depressing bunch of political songs. Another addition to the negativety that surrounds us all 24/7. People recording this tripe WILL NOT change the world. With little instrumentation it is like listening to an un-wanted visitor rambling on about the worlds' woes. Also contains the most depressing version of 'Jerusalem', which is normally an uplifting song, I have ever heard. Leave well alone.
