Drink from her well-spring of wisdom to receive health and nourishment for your marriage as she quotes from the Torah, Talmud, the sages, and adds a wealth of information from her personal experiences as well.
These all combine to weave a beautiful tapestry of love, unity, and mutual respect between the husband and wife as they bring the revealed will of The Almighty into clear focus for their marriage.
In addition to this book, I highly recommend that you also purchase her book entitled "The Committed Life" and read them as a combined set. The wisdom in both books will enrich and change your life.
Jungreis wisely avoids lecturing the reader. She presents many pertinent and interesting anecdotes, which demonstrate the importance of treating your partner with respect, communicating with him or her effectively, and persevering when the going gets tough. The reason that Jungreis's words do not come across as didactic and condescending is that she infuses her advice with love, compassion, and deep psychological understanding. Jungreis's beautiful writing style flows smoothly and effortlessly. Her warmth and concern shine through and embrace the reader. The book is enhanced by Rebbetzin Jungreis's frequent and personal allusions to the words and actions of her late father and husband, since these two spiritual giants exemplified the purest Torah values.
Cynics may dismiss the ideas brought forth in "The Committed Marriage" as simple common sense. However, in our self-centered society, too many people hide behind their busy schedules; they neglect the most important relationships in their lives, until they realize that it is too late to turn back. It is unfortunate, but true, that common sense is increasingly uncommon.
I recommend "The Committed Marriage" for those who want to have a more meaningful, harmonious, and joyous marriage.
Rebbetzin Jungreis emphasizes building charachter. This will not only make your marriage last, but enable you to find deeper meaning in life as an individual as well. The Rebbetzin shares her first-hand experience in working with people. The content of the book is outstanding and she conveys it in a manner that is a pleasure to read - the Rebbetzin is a magnificent storyteller.
