Review

Praise for The Comic Strip History of the World: 'This book is undoubtedly the most original book about history you will ever read ... A truly entertaining way to discover what gruesome deeds our ancestors got up to' Anorak Magazine 'An enjoyable romp from the Big Bang to genetic engineering via ancient civilisations, Attila the Hun, plague and revolution ... This little book manages to cram in lots of different topics and is not too Eurocentric' The School Librarian Praise for The Comic Strip History of Space: "This is a deceptively clever book. Sally Kindberg's comic strip form makes the content accessible and fun ... very entertaining with plenty of jokes' English: Four to eleven magazine 'a righteous romp through history in true comic strip style. It has a fast-flowing narrative with plenty of humour thrown in.' tBk Magazine

The Comic Strip History Of The World is a fun introduction to history for children (although adults may want to sneak a peep too)covering everything from the big bang up to the present day. While it is very much a potted history in a similar vein to the Horrible History series it's main selling point is having everything in it's place, giving an overview of events and the order they happened in, something not really focused on in schools. The illustrations are simple the humour is appealing, the book is a great way for any child to increase their general historical knowledge without really noticing they are being gently educated.

This is a wonderful book that manages to make history interesting and exciting for children - and will allow parents to generate and nurture that interest, giving their offspring a gift that will last them a lifetime. Great work by Tracey Turner, but in particular, wonderfully captivating illustration work (as ever) by Sally Kindberg. If it was possible to give them six stars, I would have done.
